University of Alberta
South-side facilities near Whyte Ave/Old Strathcona are the closest and busiest cluster, just across the river valley from campus.
MacEwan University
Downtown-adjacent, straddling the north and south facility clusters depending on which side of the valley a student lives on.
NAIT
North-side facilities along the Yellowhead corridor are closest — also the city's cheapest cluster.
A river valley crossing, not a quadrant, decides which facility makes sense
Because Edmonton splits north/south by the river valley rather than a quadrant grid, a U of A student living south of the river has little reason to store north near NAIT even if it's cheaper — the crossing adds real time to every trip to the unit, which matters more for students visiting a unit repeatedly than for a one-time move.
More purpose-built student housing than Calgary's campuses
The University of Alberta has significantly more purpose-built student housing directly on or adjacent to campus than Calgary's universities do, which shifts Edmonton's student storage demand slightly later in spring — students in campus housing tend to have firmer, later move-out deadlines than those in scattered off-campus rentals.
